Choosing your CEM Partner
4th April 2017In our first blog we explained the benefits of working with a Contract Electronic Manufacturing (CEM) partner. This time we want to discuss the factors that we think should be taken into consideration when choosing your CEM partner.
If we had a checklist for suppliers there are points that every one should tick:
- Excellent service
- Competitive prices
- Reliable deliveries
- Use of newest technology
- Approved quality standards
For example, every supplier should be able to manufacture consistently to agreed standards and have processes in place that ensure competetive prices and lead times.
But these factors only scratch the surface. In many respects these are hygiene factors. The ultimate goal should be for both parties to build a long lasting, sustainable relationship that is mutually beneficial. As a company, you have to think about your long-term goals; working with a supplier that has been by your side for years and understands your business needs will ensure continuous success. The longer the relationship between company and CEM lasts, the better the CEM will know the challenges and market, the more effective the solutions will be.
This type of relationship can be built if you consider these factors:
- Do the values of both companies align?
- Does the CEM’s philosophy match ours?
- Are the people making an effort to get to know me, my company and the market?
From the day we were established our goal at Offshore Electronics has been to build and nurture long standing and mutually beneficial relationships with all our customers.
Our services are structured to ensure that we are flexible, responsive and agile, providing a level of commitment, knowledge and understanding that adds real long term value to each and every project. As a result, we have built long term partnerships – often running to ten years or more – with many clients, where we have become a valued and critical part of their electronics design, development and manufacturing processes.
